When it comes to holidays, the NBA is mostly associated with Christmas, when they often feature the best matchups to attract maximum attention. The event is an important part of the NBA season, with many fans using it as the starting point for when to tune in to the action. But if there’s another holiday that the NBA is known for, it’s arguably Halloween.
While the league never plans any formal celebrations for the occasion, there’s almost always games on Halloween night, and players have famously used it as an opportunity to show off their favorite costumes. Tonight was no exception, as it featured many prominent players dressing up as an iconic character.
Out of everyone, Victor Wembanyama probably won the day, and it should come as no surprise. He’s worn some iconic costumes in the past, such as Slender Man and Kaonashi. This year, the French superstar opted to make an appearance dressed as Geralt of Rivia, AKA “The Witcher.”

Victor’s fit went viral online, with fans noting the level of effort and detail in his costume. With the wig, the double swords, and the all-black armor, he looked like the real deal, and he didn’t even crack a smile on his way through the tunnel. Whether it was part of the act or simply him locking in ahead of the game is unclear, but it certainly made for an epic moment.
Cavaliers guard James Harden also has a history of Halloween participation, and he didn’t disappoint this year. In a post on X, he posted himself as Bane, one of Batman’s most notorious villains. Clearly, Harden is a big DC fan, and he knows his stuff when it comes to looking the part of his favorite hero or villain.

Bucks center Myles Turner went more of the spooky route with his costume. Dressed as Skeletor, he was captured flexing in his entrance as he headed to the locker room to prepare for the game. His look may have been simple, but it definitely turned some heads in the arena.

Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton also deserves an honorable mention for his costume. He and his wife dressed up as the co-leads of Sinners, the horror-themed vampire movie featuring Hailee Steinfeld and Michael B. Jordan.

The New Orleans Pelicans also had a game today, and the team took it upon themselves to post some of their players’ costumes. Guys came in as the Men in Black, Scream, and what appears to be Elle Woods from ‘Legally Blonde.’

Of course, we can’t forget about De’Aaron Fox, who posted a picture of himself and his family dressed as iconic characters from the Toy Story movies (Woody, Jessie, Buzz, and Bo Peep).

In the end, this night will go down as any other for most players, but there’s no harm in having a little fun to suit the occasion. Halloween only comes once a year, after all, and being on the NBA schedule means you can’t spend the holiday in other ways. At least this way, it lightens the mood a bit while adding a little flavor to the season.
As for which player had the best costume, nobody will agree on that, but it’s enough that so many of them participated, letting the fans see a more humorous and creative side of their personality. If nothing else, it makes you wonder what they might come up with next year.
