The Savannah Bananas and the rest of Banana Ball are releasing the Banana Ball League’s 2027 schedule tonight with a multi-hour show from the Bananas long-time home at Savannah, Ga.’s Grayson Stadium.
The announcement comes fresh off last weekend’s first-ever Banana Bowl played in front of a sellout crowd of 41,000 at the Nationals Park in Washington D.C. In the Banana Bowl, the Texas Tailgaters beat the Savannah Bananas 2-1 in a Showdown for the Banana Bowl title. The two teams were tied 1-1 after nine innings. Kyle Martin was named the Banana Bowl MVP as he hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning for the Tailgaters.
The 2026 schedule was easily the biggest ever in Banana Ball history. What had once been a barnstorming team bouncing playing largely in Savannah turned into a true league (the Banana Ball Championship League) with six teams playing in 45 states, as the Loco Beach Coconuts and Indianapolis Clowns joined the Savannah Bananas, Texas Tailgaters, Party Animals and the Firefighters. The six teams each played 60 regular season games played in 76 different stadiums including 14 MLB ballparks and 10 football stadiums, drawing more than 3.2 million fans.
The Bananas have promised that the new schedule will be even bigger, but details on exactly what that will involve were to be announced beginning at 6 p.m. ET on Oct. 15.
Banana Ball creator Jesse Cole announced at the start of the show that Banana Bowl will leave the U.S. to play internationally for the first time in 2027 with the Mexico Series in Monterey, Mexico and Tijuana, Mexico on Feb. 5-6 and Feb. 12-13. Banana Ball will also go to Canada for the Canada Series in Toronto on Aug. 14-15 and Winnipeg on Aug. 26 and 28. Banana Ball will also go to Puerto Rico for the first time with a game in San Juan, P.R. on Jan. 17, 2028.
The 2027 schedule will be played at 79 stadiums in 75 cities. With the schedule announcement, the ticket lottery is now open as well, which closes Oct. 31.
The Blue Jays, Dodgers, D-backs, Giants and Rays are added to the list of MLB stadiums that are hosting Banana Ball, which means that the Mets will be the only remaining MLB ballpark that has not hosted a Banana Ball game by the end of 2027.
The Banana Ball League is going to Hawaii. With the addition of New Jersey as well, that leaves only four U.S. states who have not hosted or are not scheduled to host a Banana Ball game (Alaska, Vermont, Rhode Island and Wyoming).
Cole also announced that at a football stadium they will put a field in opposite corners of the stadium and the teams will switch from one field to the other each inning to ensure each seat is behind home plate/close to it for some of the game. Cole announced that it will be dubbed “Banana Ball 360” and it will start at Notre Dame Stadium on June 26.
The 2027 Banana Bowl will be played in Nashville, Tenn. at the New Nissan Stadium (the new home of the Tennessee Titans) on Sept. 25.
And in a final announcement, there is a Banana Ball film, “The Banana Ball Film” will debut on June 12 at Truist Park in Atlanta.
