I Walked 27,000 Steps in the lululemon Beyondfeel—My Feet Were Shockingly Fine

| 2 Min Read
They held up at an all-day amusement park adventure without killing my feet.
  • These shoes survived a 27,000-step theme park death march and so did my feet.
  • They’re cushy and roomy-ish out of the box, with zero break-in period required.
  • If you overpronate hard or need wide sizing, temper your expectations—this is a snug, soft ride, not a stability tank.

After a 27,000-step day at Cedar Point walking through water and over concrete and cobblestones all day, my feet did not feel like they were going to rot off the end of my legs, and that alone is enough reason for me to try to convince you to buy the lululemon Beyondfeels. They are a running shoe, true, and we also love them for that, but because of their build, they can hold up over long hauls of walking or walk-running.

The Out-of-Box Situation

Look, I have been burned. I have laced up brand-new shoes and hobbled home three miles later like a Victorian child sent to the workhouse. The Beyondfeels do not do this to you. There is no break-in period, no blisters, no “just push through the first week.” You put them on, you walk 12,000 steps in 90-degree weather with Ohio humidity, and your feet survive the steps. The insole is soft and a bit squishy, but the kind of squish that feels good and right rather than a sand pit you’re sinking into and can’t escape. (Artax, no!)

Why They Work for Walking Specifically

lululemon built the women’s version of this shoe for a woman’s foot, which feels like a big old gimmick until you notice the flex groove that actually moves with your stride (which IS different from a man’s) and the extra 2 mm of foam up front where your foot lands. So your toes get a little pillow, your heel gets a bunch of padding, and the whole thing flexes instead of fighting your stride. The mesh upper breathes enough even for perimenopausal ladies, which matters when you’re doing a full day outside and your feet want to combust. It has a well-padded heel, well-padded tongue, and causes no rubbing. I did not think about my feet except when they got wet, which is the highest compliment a walking shoe can earn. And thankfully, they dried pretty dang quick.

The Stuff You Should Know Before You Buy

I’m not going to lie to you and say they’re perfect. They run a touch narrow, and there’s no wide sizing, so wide-footed friends, proceed with caution or size up a half. They’re also *soft,* which some people love and some people find means their foot rolls inward a bit. If you’re a heavy overpronator who needs real structure, this may not be your forever shoe. And if you want that bouncy, springy, launch-you-forward feeling, these aren’t the bounciest kicks—they’re more steady and chill.

The Verdict

For all things walking, like errands, travel, airports, and yes, an absolutely unhinged full day at an amusement park, including more than one funnel cake—the Beyondfeels are a boss (and cute) choice. They’re good looking enough to wear with real clothes, comfy enough to forget your step count should hurt, and durable enough to take a beating on cobblestones and splash pads alike. Size true (or up half a size for toe room), grab a color you actually like, and go abuse them. Your feet will thank you.
